Alex has too many problems in her life and she's angry. Her parents are splitting up, her younger brother has died of cancer, and now she's been banished from her California home to spend time in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota with her father who is a biologist. One day, doing something to defy her father, Alex does something to set events in motion that cause a near disaster.
